ACM SIGOPS ATC 2026 Workshop

State Management in Modern Parallel and Distributed Systems

A focused forum for systems researchers and practitioners working on state access, state-aware execution, migration, reuse, and memory-centric infrastructure.

Date
Nov 15, 2026
Format
Half day
Location
Hong Kong

Why StateSys

State has become the critical systems resource.

Modern services increasingly derive performance, efficiency, and service quality from how they organize, access, schedule, evolve, migrate, and reuse shared or long-lived state. StateSys 2026 brings these conversations together across cloud runtimes, data systems, storage stacks, serverless platforms, stream processing, graph systems, and AI serving infrastructure.

Workshop Date Sunday, November 15, 2026
Co-located With ACM SIGOPS ATC 2026
Duration Half-day workshop
Status Important dates to be announced

Call for Papers

Original research, system experience, position papers, and emerging ideas.

We invite submissions related to state management as a first-class systems problem. We especially welcome work that bridges foundational systems questions with emerging production settings such as large-model inference serving, retrieval-augmented services, and memory-centric cloud systems.

Submission details: deadlines, submission site, page limits, and proceedings information will be announced after workshop confirmation.

Topics

Systems problems where state is the center of gravity.

State Access

Modeling, observability, bottleneck diagnosis, locality, and topology-aware execution.

Runtime Control

Scheduling, concurrency control, recovery, consistency, elasticity, and reconfiguration.

Memory Hierarchies

KV/state placement, tiered caching, cache reuse, and cross-layer optimization.

State Evolution

Online updates, long-lived maintenance, migration, and reuse across requests or tasks.

AI Infrastructure

LLM serving, KV cache reuse, retrieval-augmented systems, and memory-centric inference.

Methodology

Benchmarks, workload characterization, evaluation practice, and reusable artifacts.

Program

A discussion-forward half-day workshop.

  1. Keynote

Invited talk from a leading researcher or practitioner in stateful systems.

  2. Paper Session

Selected research talks and experience reports from academia and industry.

  3. Panel

Moderated discussion on state as a unifying abstraction across systems domains.

  4. Closing Forum

Open benchmarks, interfaces, artifacts, and future community directions.
